Michael Tucker

Michael holds a Master’s Degree in Commercial Law from the University of Cape Town.

His practice spans a wide range of commercial and maritime litigation with an emphasis on liability and P&I disputes, together with general commercial advice to liner clients and transporters in the logistics chain.

Michael has extensive experience in arrests, attachments and charter party disputes.

He has been instructed in a number of high profile South African shipping casualties.

Michael has acted for shipowning interests in Marine Courts of Enquiry convened by the South African Maritime Safety Authority (on behalf of the Department of Transport).

Arising from his practice area and expertise, he is well acquainted with port operations, logistics and intermodal transport systems, South Africa’s freight transport policy and the port regulatory environment.

Michael has participated in and presented at a number of industry workshops and is a past chair of the Maritime Law Association (Cape Chapter).
