Profile
Tom Keenan is the Executive Vice President of Marine Operations at Liberty Maritime. He is responsible for Liberty’s Engineering, Operations, Insurance, Crew Personnel, Purchasing, Strategic Planning and Quality Management departments.
Prior to joining Liberty in 2003, Mr. Keenan served as Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of American V. Ships Marine and International Marine Carriers. During his 22 years in that position, he was responsible for operational and technical engineering matters for 36 managed vessels. Prior to his tenure at American V. Ships Marine/IMC, Mr. Keenan was Marine Superintendent Engineer at Apex Marine Corporation for seven years.
In 1992, Mr. Keenan was honored as a Distinguished Alumnus of the State University of New York. In 1993, he was awarded the Alumnus of the Year for the Maritime College.
Mr. Keenan currently serves on a number of professional and educational boards and committees. He is an elected member of the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) and serves on ABS’ North American Committee. He is a member of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers as well as the Society of Marine Port Engineers. Mr. Keenan is also Chairman of Intercargo’s Technical Committee.
Born in New York City, he graduated from the Maritime College of the State University of New York in 1971 with a Degree in Marine Engineering and Naval Architecture, a USCG Engineering License and a commission as Ensign in the U.S. Naval Reserve.
