Deputy Head of Plant Protection Products Department at Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL)

I studied chemistry at the Ruhr University of Bochum from 1979 onwards being completed with a thesis on the synthesis on an analogue of an antibiotic in 1987. Beginning in 1988 I started work on plant protection products with evaluation of the residue behaviour of herbicides and plant growth regulators in the Federal Biological Research Centre for Agriculture and Forestry (BBA, Braunschweig). Since 1992 I am responsible for general questions on residue behaviour and MRL setting and for this reason join Standing Committee Meetings in Brussels and CCPR Meetings.

Since 2002 he is Head of Unit 207 Health in the Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL, Braunschweig). This unit cover risk management in toxicology including protection of operator, worker, bystander and residents, residues. In this unit the competent authority for MRL setting in Germany is located. In addition, I am Deputy Head of Department 2 (Plant Protection Products) within the Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety since 2006.
