Ashok Srinivasan

Manager, Maritime Technology and Regulation at BIMCO

Ashok is educated as a Master mariner, dynamic positioning officer, marine lead auditor. He also holds an MBA (Master of Business Administration) from Copenhagen Business School.

In the capacity of Manager, Maritime Technology and Regulation, Ashok is responsible for coordinating BIMCO’s initiative on a variety of technical and regulations related matters including ballast water management, biofouling, ship safety and e-navigation. His core competencies include Ship operations, Quality Assurance and Auditing. He represents BIMCO on the IACS Advisory committee.

Ashok is an experienced seafarer with 20 years of experience in the maritime sector. He started his career with A.P.Moller Maersk and has sailed on a variety of ships including containers, car carriers, oil tankers (crude and product), gas tankers (LPG and LNG) in the maritime shipping (13 years) and platform supply vessels & cable layers in the offshore sector (3years).

He has been conducting quality, safety and security audits for ships from 2016 to 2018 when he joined BIMCO. He is certified as a lead auditor and integrated marine auditor by LRQA (Lloyds register quality assurance). He has conducted audits on several ship types as well as internal audits to align the shipboard safety and quality management system with the overall company’s management system. He has also prepared vessels for external class audits (ISM, ISPS and MLC audits), and industry vetting inspections such as OCIMF-SIRE, CDI inspections.
